James Zink | Rancher and Rodeo Cowboy in Texas

About

James Zink

James Zink is a ranch hand, construction professional, and emerging rodeo athlete who has built a hands-on career spanning ranching, residential building, and competitive roping. Raised in Durango, Colorado, he grew up immersed in athletics—playing football, baseball, and basketball and competing in wrestling—while also spending summers working on his grandfather’s ranch. Those early seasons shaped his work ethic and gave him practical experience with cattle and livestock care, horse handling, land maintenance, and the operation of agricultural equipment across working acreage that included crops, orchards, and wetlands.

Professionally, Mr. Zink has applied his mechanical aptitude and leadership in both jobsite and warehouse environments. Between 2020 and 2022, he supported construction contractors on excavation and build projects, contributing to foundation preparation, framing, and trench work. His skill set includes operating heavy equipment such as loaders, skid steers, and backhoes, as well as performing trim and frame carpentry. He is also proficient in blueprint interpretation and a range of finishing tasks, including drywall installation, door hanging, and glass work.

Today, Mr. Zink is focused on advancing on the rodeo circuit as a team roper. He competes regularly at Texas events and is working toward Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) membership by the end of 2025, with plans to ride in a World Series of Team Roping event and expand into roping instruction in Billings, Montana.
